I bet you answered no to that question! None of us want to think of ourselves as quitters but in actual fact we are – we give up so easily, we are inconsistent and we are very demanding of fast and instant results! Unfortunately personal development and self improvement takes time. We have to be patient and allow our minds and lives to percolate with new ideas. It’s not every time that we experience that aha moment or that light bulb that we can implement everything straight away. Growth and change takes time and most of us quit before the miracles and results show up. This leaves us feeling frustrated and despondent, this can even lead us to become disillusioned with personal development and even trying. We have a coaching client who illustrated the patience and the determination that we should all be striving for. We worked with her in 2015 to improve her relationships and her business. At the time she was very overwhelmed by the ideas and concepts that we presented to her, she had great fear and resistance about the changes that we were encouraging her to make. At the time she felt stressed by the ideas of it all and in the months that followed nothing dramatic changed in any aspect of her life. She was however progressing and growing. Her desire for change and her hunger for greater revenue and effectiveness in her business had her revisiting our coaching call notes and recording. Every month she would work on pieces of what we taught her and she chipped away creating slow and steady progress. She stuck with it – she knew she deserved greater rewards and happiness! Over the 12 months that followed she implemented changes, she created new products, hired staff and her life and business are completely unrecognizable today. A willingness to do the work and to not give up is a testament to her new and improved success. Consider your attitude around consistency and patience? Are you willing to stick at things, chip away and be patient at implementing ideas and change? These are essential characteristics we must adopt in our journey towards greater happiness and success. Refrain from giving up or jumping to conclusions – be willing to stick with ideas and change, sometimes it takes more time than we are willing to be patient with – remember Rome wasn’t built in a day!
