Love yourself enough to acknowledge and accept what is happening in your life and lean into the feelings and trust the bigger picture so you can be in flow rather than resistance!

May 30, 2017
When life gives you lemons do you make lemonade or do you sit in the resistance and create drama and further frustration? Many of us struggle to find the learnings and lessons in what happens in our lives. We resist any and all personal development and growth and get straight into drama and reactions to our circumstances.
A more nurturing and helpful approach is to lean into your feelings and trust the journey and what you are here to learn. Wayne Dyer said it best – “Life doesn’t happen to you it happens FOR you.” With this optimistic mindset we can and do begin to lean into our feelings and circumstances with a more open and learning mindset. What could I possibly need to learn from this and in what way if I embraced these circumstances could I and my life become better.
We resist change a lot of the time and do not allow ourselves to remember the big picture – that we do actually choose how much suffering we engage in. We get to choose how much we complain and feel stuck or we can do the work, lean into our circumstances and love ourselves through the process.
One of the major reasons we struggle to love ourselves through our circumstances is because of our high and often unrealistic expectations of ourselves and our lives. Many of us still engage in a perfectionistic or idealistic reality which we fall short of consistently. How can we possibly feel content and happy when our expectations are so far from reality. By engaging in these delusions we struggle to find a peaceful mindset and we live in constant resistance.
Instead we can choose flow and this requires a realignment of expectations as well as a relationship of compassion and self love with ourselves. We have to love ourselves where we are, without any limitations and acknowledge who we really are and that we are exactly where we are meant to be. This practically means stopping the internal dialogues and conflicts of not being enough as well as dropping the comparisons to others. How many of us are willing to do this? It takes work! It’s much easier to completely have yourself fall short of expectations and feel like a failure, but only because it is the most familiar.
To change this mindset and your life from resistance to flow a commitment to change and self love needs to be taken. Consistently we must choose to love ourselves within our struggles and trials and accept with peace and purpose where we are. We are always on track, by dropping the expectations and unrealistic projections to the future we can find comfort and purpose in where we are right now.
This week catch yourself in your limiting beliefs, idealism and projections. Remind yourself that the cost of this is happiness, contentment and self love. Make a concerted effort to find love, peace and acceptance in where you are in your life now and remember that you are on track always, even when life does throw you lemons…
