Are you underestimating the importance of breathing?

When is the last time that you noticed your breath? We take this for granted you know…our breath is always there, always supporting us and we don’t even notice it…
Our breathe not only keeps us alive but also responds to our pace. Our pace of living, our emotions, our thoughts and our response to life all impacts our breath. Right now how is your breathing? Is it rhythmic, shallow, deep or slow? When we make time to notice our breath we are practicing mindfulness. We bring our awareness back to the present moment and connect with ourselves. This connection within gives us an opportunity to adjust and to change our reaction and our outside environment and make conscious choices about how we feel and what we will pursue.
Sadly many of us are disconnected with our breath, we don’t even notice its changes and as such we can be disconnected to our feelings, our intuition and our truth. Do you live in a practical and pragmatic way when you respond to your inner truth, intuition and inner knowing? Nope! Not many of us do, but we can begin to be more mindful of this and begin to take time to notice our breath.
One of the easiest ways to start living this practice is to set the alarm on your phone every two hours. As the alarm goes off notice your breathing and take a moment to check in with yourself. How are you going today? How are your feelings, your emotions and your thoughts. How can you honor yourself more and connect in or take action on any feelings or intuitive thoughts that you have? With time and practice this soon becomes the norm and we begin to live more responsive and intuitive lives. We all desire connection, more commonly it’s with ourselves than others that we crave this for. Our breath and connecting in every two hours is a wonderful practice to plug ourselves in periodically and achieve this.
Your breath is your pace and the way you breathe and connect to your breath really is the vibrational signature your day will hold. By this we mean that if you have shallow and quick breath you will be anxious for most of your day. Similarly if you take deep and connected breaths you will feel relaxed, calm and in control.
Challenge yourself this week to tune into yourself and your breath as a way of becoming more empowered and centered in your life. You may want to even use some of our guided meditations as a way of centering yourself and connecting into your personal flow and rhythm. Learn more here –
