LOVING RESOLUTIONS TO CONFLICT

Conflict is an inevitable part of business and of life in general. Learning to be OK with conflict and work towards loving resolutions is a crucial skill that needs constant development in the life of an entrepreneur.

Sadly as women in business exaggeration, gossip and escalation within conflict are often the outcomes. Recently Nic has held the space for Ali as she has grown and learnt about conflict. Ali has paved a way through a recent conflict and I Nic have been kicking her up the ass and holding her accountable to her new growth. You see conflict is not something to shy away from or to be fearful of. It’s just unknown and often uncomfortable. Conflict can however be very positive and really be the catalysts to change and greater depth in our business relationships. The biggest accountability for Ali has been to challenge her to stay out of the drama and the story. I Nic have been coaching her to go to the source of the conflict, deal the problem head on and don’t get involve with any other parties in the conflict.
This has been a very valuable experience for us both and also generated a very proactive and positive outcome within the conflict.
Here are Nic’s 5 tips for resolving conflict lovingly:
1. Recognise and respond to the conflict of NOT react.
2. Do not be aggressive, explosive or resentful. Respond with professionalism.
3. Have a readiness to forgive and forget. Never bring up events of the past and use them as ammunition or fuel for current conflicts.
4. Adopt a compromise and be willing to see another’s point of view.
5. Do not fear or avoid conflict assuming it will have negative outcomes. Conflict can be the shake up and progression that your relationship or business needs!
