Ali has had the challenge of too many friends, overwhelming levels of connectivity and always being surrounded by people. This has served her greatly in business and fundamentally is what Ali is all about – people. By comparison Nic has worked in private practice alone for 13 years. I even built my clinic in Melbourne to have one dispensary, one consultation room and a tiny reception as it was for me and me only.
Along this path of individual success has come some challenges. Nic has not had years of teamwork, only managing her very loyal staff. Nic has felt isolated at times in business and remember 13 years ago we didn’t even have social media groups to connect into. The highlight of connectivity was the bi annual AHA conference which I never missed.
My friendship with Ali has not only forced me to open up my heart but also open myself to other possibilities of doing and being in business. Ali has forced, yes literally forced me to celebrate my successes as well as get me well outside my comfort zone learning to network with other people.
Mostly our pasts are a reflection of the industries we have worked in as I really don’t have an issue with people and am actually really friendly, but networking sure is a skill I have not been working on.
What has been really interesting is how my work flow has changed since meeting Ali. I am learning that being locked away in a clinic alone is actually not what working has to look like. I’m learning that working in coffee shops and scheduling meetings in different locations is great for my work flow and the variety really fills me up.
For Ali there has been growth too. Our friendship is teaching her that it’s great to have coffee and connect with people however unplugging from the social set and being really effective, churning out content and being productive really pushes your business forward, even if it is only for small bursts of time…oooh a pink sparkly thing!!
No that’s a bit cruel, Ali has really grown and even text me with an agenda for one of our meetings the other day, I almost fell out of bed!
What we are learning is that we are brilliant for each other, we balance each other perfectly, we fill each other up and are holding each other to be the most consistent, capable and successful business women that we have been up to this point. So much so that we are looking for a new work space together. The flow we have created together is working for us in all aspects of our lives and business. You will see us together more and more as we now step up and claim the infinite potential in this friendship of inspiring and supporting each other in business.
